For the sixth year running, Zhenghua Secondary School Girl Guides 1st and 2nd COYs have each achieved a gold Puan Noor Aishah (PNA) award. Named after the wife of Singapore's first President, Yusof Ishak, the gold award is the highest award accorded to Girl Guides Companies. This is no mean feat considering that our Girl Guides unit is the only school in Singapore which have obtained two gold awards despite the revisions that were made to the PNA point system by Girl Guides Singapore. Indeed, our Girl Guides unit has done the school proud and proved that nothing is impossible when everyone has set their hearts and minds to strive for common goals.
A look into our past reveals a humble beginning. Zhenghua Girl Guides was still at its infancy stage and a bigger budget was much in want. However, the pioneer girl guides who were foundation stones of this organisation took these obstacles in their stride. They strived hard to earn their proficiency badges and cherished every single one of them. The perseverance, resourcefulness and gaiety that they demonstrated still remain as motivational factors for the new cohorts of girls to emulate.
Zhenghua Girl Guides could not have achieved to where it is today without the combined time and effort put in the teachers (also known as Guiders), the processes that have been put in place to ensure the smooth running of the organisation (such as the Court-Of-Honour, set and made-up ceremonies and 5-point programme), the support of parents and school leaders and dedication of the girl guides themselves.
The synthesis of these stakeholders meant that all are heading for a shared goal with the common understanding that our mission is to enable girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. What the future beholds, our girl guides will be adaptable and BE PREPARED for this is our Girl Guide motto and this is our answer to a constantly changing global world.
