Reflections for YOG – Islandwide Flag Relay organised by Hwa Chong Junior College

BY KEZIA YEE

Firstly, congratulations to Singapore for winning the bid to be the first country to host the Youth Olympic Games in 2010! (:

Our school did our part in rallying behind Singapore by participating in the passing of the Youth Olympic Flag to another school. On that day itself, we waited excitedly for the runners from Teck Whye Secondary School to pass the flag over to us. Many pupils turned up to support the runners, with cameras in their hands to snap photos of that special moment when the Zhenghua Girl Guides and Scouts would start off. After what seemed like hours, the runners from Teck Whye ran into our school, panting for breath after their long run. The Guides and Scouts took the flag and ran out of the school, waving the flag enthusiastically. About an hour later, the runners came back having successfully passed on the flag to Unity Secondary School. Their faces were red and they were out of breath, but they still smiled for the cameras. Kudos to the runners! We're proud of you! (:
